September 5, 2007 - A
while back I discovered that
Lefty was missing one of his two upper incisors,
which caused the matching lower incisor to grow way too long. His lower
incisors were trimmed three times already in just as many weeks, which
seriously stressed out Lefty each time.
My vet therefore suggested to
have the remaining three incisors pulled out, leaving only his molars. This
would make Lefty slightly a disabled rat, but he would still be able to eat
most of his food mix.
However, things didn't go as planned. The vet only managed
to pull out Lefty's remaining upper incisor, the
lower incisors just wouldn't come out. So now Lefty is a disabled
rodent, and he will probably still have to have his teeth trimmed on a
regular basis. :-( Oh well, he's alive and doing alright at
the moment, staying in my hospital cage for at least the night, so I guess
I should be grateful. And I guess I am.
