All good things come in threes
October 7, 2007 - Today my eldest two
boys have turned 3 whole years, a truely great age
for a couple of rats. I mean, 3 years, that's about
90 human years... Wow! A
few months back, when Chester's hind legs got
worse and Casey had a
tumour, I didn't think they would ever make
it this far. And now look at them! It's true, you can really tell they are
almost beyond old, but I see no reason why they can't stay with me a little
while longer. Days, weeks, perhaps even months, who knows.
To celebrate their 3rd birthday, Chester &
Casey threw a big party. First there was a preparty yesterday afternoon on
the couch, to which only a small crowd of insiders
(Dylan, Pancho,
Lefty and me) was
invited. Chester had also invited their old pal
Mink who he hadn't seen for quite a while, but
Mink didn't show up nor did he send a card or something. :-? I
had to leave early to prepare their "birthday
cage", where the real party began early
yesterday evening. Unfortunately Lefy had to
return to the hospital right after the
preparty, but the others partied on until the wee wee hours of the morning.
After little sleep more guests arrived today: my sister and her son, and
later on my mother and stepfather. And my father called from Madeira to
congratulate both birthday boys.
Well, as they say, all good things come in threes, So
here's three ringing cheers for Chester & Casey, and for their sister
Miep, and also for their sisters and brothers who haven't made it (Cassie,
Cato, Carli, Coco, Chanel, Amor, Pucca, Chapatti, Chai, and last but not
least Cappy):
Hurrah, hurrah, hurray!
Everyone who has sent Chester & Casey birthday
wishes (by e-mail, in the guestbook, on
