They're here
March 16, 2009 - Yesterday I went to the
Rattery Ratcity to pick up
Kraken &
Kilkenny. On our way home we travelled first
by car, and then by train, so it was quite a journey for two little
ratlets. The last part, from the train station to my home, I was supposed
to walk, but my sister and my father were kind enough to pick me up by car.
Of course they didn't do this just for me, because they were also dying to
meet Kraken & Kilkenny. When we arrived at my place I put Kraken &
Kilkenny in my spare cage, so they could rest
from the trip. Or so I thought, because they wouldn't rest much at all.
Instead they immediately started climbing the cage, digging into the
bedding, and sniffing every inch of their new (temporary) home.
Meanwhile Uisce &
Ulixes had already smelled "trouble".
At the breeder I had handled not only my two new boys, but also a whole
nest of even younger rittens, so to Uisce & Ulixes I must've
smelled like a hundred rats. Because it was already late, and because I
wanted all four five boys (me included) to calm down a little
first, I decided to call it a night, and wait with the introduction until
the next morning.
So this morning after breakfast I first put Uisce on
neutral territory (an easy chair), and I then added Kraken. Not much
happened except for the usual scrotum sniffing :-p, so I added Kilkenny and
not much later Ulixes. After about 10 minutes I moved the lot to the couch,
and after a few minutes Kraken followed Ulixes into the
big cage. I temporarily put Uisce and Kilkenny
together in the spare cage to see what would happen in both cages. Not much
is what happened, so I then moved Uisce and Kilkenny to the big cage, where
they joined Uisce and Kraken. At the moment the four of them are lying
cozily together in the upstairs toilet, so all in all this introducton was
over before I could even finish my first cup of coffee. :-D
