Announcing Igor & Java
May 25, 2013 - A few months ago I figured it was
time to get more rats again. That is to say,
I thought my elderly boys Dino &
Elvis would be gone soon. If I'd make reservations
for a couple of new boys now, then by the time the new kids would arrive Dino
& Elvis would be long gone. That way I would spare them the stress that
new rats might well cause them (although I don't think they really care
anymore). But I think I might've miscalculated things a bit, because
(fortunately!) Dino & Elvis are still with us (although barely), and
the little ones are coming already next weekend.
The new boys were born on April 19 and 20, both at
Rattery Ratcity (like all my rats).
Igor, from Ratcity's I3 nest, is
Russian blue agouti,
and Java, from the J3 nest, is just plain
agouti. Both have
standard coat and ears, so they will be the first non-dumbo rats since
Pancho & Lefty.
Not that it really matters, but I think I prefer standard ears, because
they make a rat seem more "authentic" (like a wild rat) to
me.
Two weeks ago I went down to
Rattery Ratcity to meet
Igor &
Java and their siblings. Because both have
brothers that look just like them, I don't really know which of the rittens
will be mine until next week, but it was great to see two dozen tiny
ratlets all begging for attention. To be continued...
