Pancho & Lefty
January 6, 2007 - Although
it's been only 10 days, my
cage seemed so empty without
Mink. So today two new ratties have joined my
pack. :-D Of course I know they could never really replace
Mink, but I'm sure they will become best friends with both me and my
other three boys. I've named the new ones
Pancho & Lefty,
after the song
by Townes van Zandt. They are
brothers and were born October 25, 2006. They were brought to
Ratcity's Shelter November 11, when
they were only two weeks old, fortunately together with their mother, 9
other brothers, and 2 sisters.
Wen I was at the shelter today to pick them up, Pancho sat
relatively quiet on my lap, now and then moving about curiously. But
Lefty... oh my! He just kept running and climbing around like a girl!
:-p I took them home, and when we got there I put
Chester, Casey and
Dylan with the little ones on a small table.
After a few minutes all five peacefully sat inside the transport basket I'd
used to carry Pancho & Lefty home in. Later on I put the whole lot on
the couch, but Dylan immediately chased off the new kids. So I decided it
was enough for one day, and I put Pancho & Lefty inside a spare cage
for at least the night.
The next day the introduction went better, although the
only way to get Dylan to at least accept Pancho & Lefty, was to bribe
him with treats. Oh well, whatever works, right?
